This intensive is designed for yoga teachers and committed yoga students who wish to learn more about their bodies and experience greater skill and alignment in yoga poses. Each day has three parts: (1) 90 minute anatomy and kinesiology of a body region lecture + experience (2) two and a half hour asana workshop to apply and embody the anatomy and kinesiology focus in yoga poses (3) and a 120 minute teachers workshop to integrate anatomical knowledge into sequencing and teaching pedagogy.
You will learn about the anatomy and kinesiology of your spine and how to safely mobilize and stabilize your spine in movements and asanas that include neutral spine, exion, extension, laterally exion and rotation of your spine. Expect a full spectrum of poses, with focus on on core strengthening and stabilization in every pose, how to safely and effectively open for back bending postures, and culminating arm balances postures.
Pelvis, Hip, Knee, Ankle & Foot
This pelvis, hip, knee, lower leg and foot focused day will awaken your lower body and shine the light of awareness into muscles and movements that we too often take for granted. Expect plenty of standing poses and as you occupy your your legs, activations to awaken your feet, and stabilization of your pelvis and hips in asymmetrical poses of great flexibility, such as Hanumanasana (Front Splits) and externally rotated poses like Padmasana (Lotus Pose).
Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist & Hand
Spread your wings as you learn about the structures that comprise your upper extremity. Strengthen your shoulder stabilizing muscles (rotator cuff & scapula stabilizers), align your elbows, wrists and hands in a full range of poses and drills. Expect good strong work in Chaturanga Dandasana (4-Limb Staff Pose), Vasisthasana (Side Plank), Adho Mukha Vrkshasana (Handstand) and more
About Workshops with Noah Mazé
Noah teaches yoga workshops all over the world. This program is for dedicated yoga students who want to take some extra time to explore postures in a meaningful, refined, methodical way and learn practical strategies for building strength, flexibility and focus. Noah will provide the attention you need to help you achieve your personal goals in your physical yoga/asana practice.
Morning asana sessions tend to be upbeat, with an emphasis on standing postures, backbends, arm balances and/or vinyasa flow. We turn inward as the sun wanes to forward bends, inversions and restorative postures. Students can expect to leave this program with a deeper, more expansive practice, and know how best to grow your yoga practice in the context of her/his own limits and boundaries.
